Consumer's development
Obolon is implementing a project titled Drink Responsibly, its main slogan being Stay Vertical - Drink Responsibly. As part of a joint initiative with Kontrakty Monthly magazine, we are publishing journalistic investigations, emphasizing the importance of consuming alcohol, including beer, responsibly. We want to make it clear to the public that consumption of beer, much like any other alcoholic beverage, is not compatible with children, pregnancy, or driving a car.
We have published an information and entertainment booklet titled Drink Responsibly! presented as a popular game for young people. It offers a source of useful beer facts and a way to entertain a group of friends.
Each year Obolon stages beer championships, during which we inform people about beer and its history. We tell consumers about the beer, how it affects them, and what consumption volumes are safe.
All Obolon beer labels contain a notice prohibiting minors, pregnant women, and drivers from drinking beer, as well as information about safe consumption volumes.
We use the term "standard dose of alcohol" measured in units. The International Labor Organization (ILO) considered that one unit (U) equals 12.8 grams of pure alcohol. Also the levels of moderate alcohol consumption was determined:
- for men: below 14 U per week
- for women: below 9 U per week
- below 5 U per day for both men and women
- at least 3 days per week free from alcohol consumption
It has been estimated that one 0.33 L bottle of light beer contains 1 U of alcohol, strong beer - 1.5 U. Obolon therefore encourages beer consumers to calculate the amount they drink in order to determine a safe consumption level and change their alcohol drinking habits, if necessary.
